Breitling Bentley
In 2003, Swiss watch makers Breitling, joined forces with the UK’s leading car manufacturers, Bentley. The two companies consider their union to have been “born from a passion for fine mechanisms,” and together they produce top quality Breitling chronographs, filled with the high-performance motors that Bentley prides themselves on. The Breitling for Bentley timepieces are aimed at the very high-end of the market, just as the companies do separately, in selling their individual watches and cars.
The union represents Breitling’s ability to adapt with modern-day technology, as they begin to move away from the aviation industry, from which the Swiss manufacturers was initially born, during the peak of the aviation breakthrough, in the late nineteenth century. Breitling moved from basing it’s dials on the interior of a plane’s cockpit and steered (quite literally) more towards the inspiration of a cars dashboard.
In 2009, Breitling for Bentley launched two new Bentley watches: the Bentley GMT, and the New Bentley GT.
The Bentley GMT 2009 Limited Series is available in four different models. The first is available in white gold, and features a diamond-pave dial. There are only ten of these watches are available. The next model is red gold, and features a bronze dial. The red model is part of a series of 100 watches. The third model is white gold, and features a variety of diamonds, and a natural mother of pearl or azure mother of pearl dial. There are only 25 watches in this series. The final model is part of a series of 50, and is red gold. The watch features diamonds, and a natural mother of pearl or azure mother of pearl dial. The watches dials have been inspired by Bentley cars.
The New Bentley GT and Bentley GT Racing watches feature a dial on its face that imitates the dashboard of Bentley’s GT cars. The name GT stands for Grand Tourer and derives from the popular models of Bentley cars, including the Continental GT and the GT Speed. The watches also include a day/date calendar.
